Best Time to Visit Mauritius 2026/2027
Mauritius · Turquoise lagoons, volcanic peaks, and a delicious cultural melting pot.
Mauritius enjoys a tropical climate with real seasons: a warm, humid summer (November to April) and a mild, drier winter (May to October). The winter months are the sweet spot for most travelers — warm enough to swim, cool enough to explore. Summer brings heat, humidity, and a small cyclone risk (mainly January to March), but also the island's lushest landscapes and warmest seas.
✅ Best months
- May – October — Mild, dry winter — ideal for beaches, hiking, and exploring.
- September – October — Warming seas, blooming landscapes, fewer crowds than mid-winter.
- November — Summer warmth returning before the festive peak — good value.
⚠️ When not to go
January – February — Peak cyclone season: hot, humid, with the highest chance of storms disrupting beach days. Between weather systems it's still beautiful — but it's a gamble.

Local tips

- Don't skip the interior — Chamarel, Black River Gorges, and the tea plantations.
- Mauritian street food (dholl puri, gateaux piments) is a highlight — eat where the locals queue.
- Catamaran day trips to Île aux Cerfs are the classic excursion.
