Best Time to Visit Cape Town 2026/2027
South Africa · Table Mountain, two oceans, and vineyards — Africa's most beautiful city.
Cape Town has a Mediterranean climate: warm, dry summers (November to March) made for beaches and the Winelands, and cool, wet winters (June to August) that bring dramatic storms — and southern right whales to the coast. Shoulder seasons offer the sweet spot of good weather, lower prices, and thinner crowds, plus wildflower season in August and September.
✅ Best months
- November – March — Long sunny days, warm seas — peak beach and Winelands weather.
- September — Wildflower season on the West Coast plus peak whale watching.
- April – May — Mild autumn days, harvest season in the vineyards, fewer crowds.
⚠️ When not to go
June – July — The wettest months — cold fronts bring rain and wind, and Table Mountain often hides in cloud. That said, it's prime whale season and prices drop, so it suits storm-watchers and whale lovers.
